Parktoberfest
The Scarecrow contest is FREE - see rules below:
All individuals, families, and organizations (school and youth groups, churches, and businesses) are encouraged to participate. There is NO cost to enter.
Construction: Please construct your scarecrow for durability. We do not want your hard work blowing around the park or wilting after the first rain. You may use chicken wire, corn husks and stalks, straw, rubber foam and other lasting products that will hold their shape after repeated wind and rain. Electricity will not be provided. The scarecrow must be able to attach to a post with zipties (posts and zipties will be provided).
Registration/Set-up: Scarecrows may be delivered and displayed at the Millerstown Community Park on Friday, October 7 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM or Saturday, October 8, from 10:00 AM. to 2:00 PM. If you are unable to make it on these dates, please call Cindy Roush at (717) 589-3766 or (717) 226-3371 to schedule another date/time for delivery and placement.
Preregistration is not necessary but helpful. To preregister please contact Cindy Roush.
Voting: All entries will be voted on by monetary donations from October 9 through the Parktoberfest on October 15. Monetary votes should be placed in the park donation slot in the Hoverter Pavilion. Scarecrows will be numbered. Please include the number of the scarecrow you are voting for on the envelope. Envelopes will be available at the donation slot.
Awards: Cash prizes will be announced and awarded at the Parktoberfest for the top 3 displays (1st Place $100, 2nd place $50, 3rd place $25), as judged by the public before and during the Millerstown Community Parktoberfest. You do not need to be present to win.
Scarecrows must be removed no later than October 31, 2022, or they will be removed by park volunteers.
